I am using ubuntu dapper beta and since the kernal update i seem to be getting problems with intense disk activity - usually triggeres by starting an app (often a sound app by double clicking on an mp3)

i loaded the restricted module-k7 kernal - which fixed my x server - not sure if it made this problem worse - don't think it did but thought i ought to mention it

looking at system monitor there is a process called mono running 1.8gig of ram - system stabilises a bit after it loads into memory) - the 'arguments' heading reads something like "beagled-helper --debug /usr/lib/beagle/indexHelper.exe"

is it odd that it refers to an .exe file?

my system is using 100% cpu and all the swap.

Any suggestions for sorting this out?

Many thanks
