Well, this is my first ever post in this section!

Now, I've never really bothered about cars before but I'm getting a car allowance as part of my job so I need to buy a motor. I'm bored of driving my girlfriends crappy old Fiesta flight so wan't to get something a bit more "Interesting" ;)

I'm setting myself a budget of 10k (maybe a little more).

Here are the practicalities:

It'll be parked in a residents parking area so no soft-tops. It can't be too big as space is often limited.

So... what shall I get. I quite fancy something a bit sporty as I'm 38 and it's about time I had a "mid-life crisis" ;)

Any recomendations. I've always had a soft sport for Toyota Celica's & the Audi TT. However, putting my sensible hat on, maybe a Focus would be a sensible buy?

Any recomendations fellas?

rather than setting yourself a budget, why not workout how much you will actually have after tax, then look at what you can afford :]

:D

No special requirements regarding work... i'll not be ferrying people around.. just need to get a suitcase in it.

The 10k is what I have budgeted as affordable from the allowance taking in to account running costs/insurance etc, tax etc....

Oooh goody, can we suggest turbo jap nutter cars?

I suggest the Nissan 200SX S14a Touring, which for a good one will be ~£5-6k, then the rest can go towards modifications :)

WINNER! Fit a hard top and that removes your 'no softtops' requirement.

something like this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/86212.htm

comes with a hardtop which can be £600-£1000 seperately.

Fantastic cars, sublime handling, zero practicality, nice and quick. perfect mid-life crisis weapon :D

Or alternatively VX220

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/86491.htm

also comes with a hard top. Spare set of alloys suggest it's been on track which probably means it's been treated well and things replaced when required.

However much i love TTs they have sort of lost their appeal now they are so common.
