Who the hell made their website?? It's terrible :( I've just spent 26 bloody minutes on the phone to them having to listen to godawful music. Couldn't take anymore so I gave up.

I was on 0845 300 0627 - it doesn't say anywhere on the 'Income Tax enquiries for individuals and employees' page (URL is stupidly long) if it's free or not - I kind of assumed it was. I hope it is free, imagine charging just so you can talk to them! Anyone know?

:mad:

0845 numbers are not free. they are charged at (i think) local rates for landlines and charged at around 40p per minute from a mobile phone.

<edit>
according to wikipedia, an 0845 number costs £0.049p per minute from a BT landline.

Use the 'abroad number' which is just a london landline number or whatever, I did that on my mobile and it didn't cost.

edit:
0845 300 0627
For customers who are deaf or hearing or speech impaired: 0845 302 1408
A textphone allows you to type what you want to say rather than speaking into a mouthpiece. You can use a textphone instead of a voice telephone if you are deaf or have problems with your speech.
It is not possible to speak to an adviser by phoning a textphone number.
If you're calling from abroad please telephone: +44 135 535 9022

01355359022.

Yeh but I enjoy having abit of banter with them, keeps me sane in February when I have no work.

and yeah what is it with the 64-8's constantly going missing! nothing more annoying than logging on and finding no 64-8 in place in January.

I've heard HMRC are one of the most depressing organisations in the world to work for.
