Hey all

Has anyone encountered this before, the hole on the 2011v3 chips, namely the 5820k, being not smooth but slightly raised with a clear distortion mark around it (will try and upload a photo when home...4g is terrible here and sites blocked at work).

Key concern I guess would be contact with heatsink being not as flat. I have searched the internet and it doesn't seem to be a common thing...just want to know if anyone else has a similar chip with a similar issue which resulted in it being no issue.

Can you post a picture? If it's sticking out and the coolers not sitting on it flat, I wouldn't continue installing at the moment

How odd, never seen anything like that.

In all honesty it will probably be fine. Though I'd personally return it for another.

If you do keep it for any reason, let us know how it runs and how the temps are.

have you installed this ? i bet its getting hotter than it should well return it take a side ways photo so we can see how raised it is tho it should be completly

like mushtafa said u could always hammer it itll buff out

I'd lay a straight edge such as a ruler from corner to corner and see what the gap was like.

This is what I did and also checked with the heatsink and both sat completely flat, I found another like this and it didn't (on an American forum) which clearly it did not.

In terms of testing have had little time, but have an NH D15 sitting on it at the moment and the cores are sitting 30 - 34, package 38-40 idle and all under load (prime 95) at 60-62 in these unusually warm times in London. The load seems fine, but the idle is a little warm, but this is my first 2011v3 CPU so not really sure if normal.

Will give a proper update when have more time and can see how it goes. I suspect the

I upload some pics and screen shots this weekend. Half year which means been crazy busy at work.

the small lift probably wouldnt matter enough anyway as when you pull the heatsink down it give a little to be almost flat anyway if not flat at all.

your temps seem fine.

So finally got some time and quite happy with this chip, runs at 4.4 at 1.284. 4.5 takes 1.311 - 1.316 which is really higher than I wish to run it, for no real benefit. The ruler tip was really useful tbh as could see that was still effectively flat, unlike the one you can see on youtube.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. <3 you all.
