Holiday in October - where?

Morecambe... ?

Seriously how about Fly Drive to the Eastern USA, see the "fall" colours in New England. Don't expect hot weather but the scenery is spectacular especially in upstate NY (the Adirondacks), Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Croatia for me, just nicer than anywhere else in Europe I've been, great landscape, great history, great food, good wine, cheap as chips, relatively unspoiled, not too busy, lovely people.

Went to Ibiza last year for a week, 3 (2A, 1C) of us all inclusive on a last minute travel agent deal for £900. Weather for the most part was nice in the early 20c's, had one awesome thunder storm.

Are there still flights out there to those dates? I had something similar booked off (a week in oct) last year, and it was the week after the last (cheaper) flights to anywhere, pretty much... anywhere that's a popular holiday destination anyway.... There were hardly any flights out of most airports, and those that there were, were stupidly expensive / had massive waits between transfers.

Depends on the destination.

Scheduled flights (BA etc) tend to run pretty much year round to most destinations.

Charter flights (Thomson etc - package holidays) tend to run seasonally.

Seasons are normally split between Summer and Winter, with Summer generally being May - October.

Greek isles for example would be a summer (May-Oct) destination with no charter flights outside of that. Turkey would be the same, as would Croatia, Italian rivieras, some of the Spanish Costas.

Places like Egypt, Canaries, Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Cyprus etc which are a bit warmer are Summer/Winter destinations and have charter flights running year round.

We are flying for a week to Gran Canaria end of October. The weather is still pretty good at that time of the year down there (26+). However we are flying from Hannover, Germany and I do not know how the flight connection is to the UK. My missus has been a couple of times and was always happy with the holiday. You could always go to Turkey, dead cheap there now with all what is going on atm :P

What do you want to do? If its for sun and relaxing then Canaries and Cyprus are the two mainstream places that Brits go in Europe for hot weather at that time of year. Cape Verde is a little newer onto the scene but is equally good weather wise (strong winds though I hear)

Been twice once to Rovinj and once to Porec and both were great. Been a few years so I guess maybe a bit more expensive now, but they were cheap as chips when we were there.

So after considering this thread and looking around we've gone for Croatia. Staying near Dubrovnik. We think it looks like the best of both exploration and relaxation. We looked at Cape Verde but it is considerably more expensive so maybe another time. Thanks for the opinions and advice :)

I would've definitely gone to the Canary Islands, the average high temperature in Croatia is 19c in October, in Tenerife it's 25c. I've seen 32c in Fuerteventura in October

Yeah though we both decided that whilst it's warmer in other places we'd be happy with what it was - when I said sun earlier I didn't mean lie on the beach sun, just a good bit warmer than the UK in October! (or well should be haha)

I imagine croatia will still be roasting in October!

You'll love dubrovnik it's great. Buy all the £1 gelato it was my favourite thing :3 (and was way cheaper than most other stuff there).

Also go to pizzeria castro in the old town, the best pizza I've ever had.

Croatia without a doubt see of you can rent a car I'd go back there numerous times and I've travelled a lot.
