Got a big Birthday coming up so next year I get to choose our May half-term holiday. 3 people (including a 13 year old boy).

Places we have been during this week over the last few years -

Puglia - https://mareneasuitehotel.com/
Montenegro - https://www.iberostar.com/en/hotels/herceg-novi/iberostar-waves-herceg-novi/
Croatia - https://www.hoteladmiral-slano.com/

Anything like this. Nice hotel, waterside, bit different. I am looking at maps and can't find anything interesting. Don't want to fly much farther but will do if it looks good.

Anyone been to the 'Albanian Riviera'?

I looked at montenegro etc before - tiktok has increased costs heavily.

Serrento? (Beach plus day jaunt to Pompeii etc) this is on my list.

Santorini? Crater living but not much else other than sun, sea and a few historic sites. On my list too.

Malta - just been (there’s a thread on this and I plus others can give plenty of input). Beaches, reefs, hotels etc.
North island is like cornwall, south island has some beaches and the middle blue lagoon is a boat trip away. The GOT citidel is exceptional for a trip. We stayed in Silema which is an easy walk to town or a bus trip to st pauls or other places.

Maderia - stayed at the Sacarrum (ie posh spa hotel) outside of fuchal by quite a distance. Covered the island by 4x4 tours (did three green devil tours we were so impressed by them - they collected and dropped back to the hotel). Funchal good for a day trip but maderia is less beaches (although there are some on the south coast).

Rhodes we stayed at the

Atrium Palace Thalasso Spa Resort & Villas which is about 40 mins from the main town rhodes - it’s possible to day trip to rhodos, the ferry to symyi (ics) and even to turkey’s markets (take passports!)

The hotel has everything for a beach hotel and the boat trip from the guy on the beach is worth it. It has a private beach too.

Malta and rhodes it’s worth taking some snorkel gear if you have it. Maderia’s sea/coast can be dangerous so worth taking a guided trip if you want to go for a dip.

This .. I love malta

Well I'll Say Malta but Gozo Particularly, superb little island everyones always friendly and the food and drink is always good.
We typically just get either apartments with pools or villa's with pools depending on how many us us are going.

www.eventsingozo.com is good to see/plan your visit to catch some of the feasts they are superb

Everywhere goes absolutely ape, fireworks, lights, bands, the most streamers/confetti I have ever seen, got some amazing photos of the kids nigh on buried in streets full of streamers.
then we walked past 2 day later and the place had been cleaned completely!

Xlendi bay has been a little spoilt by the amount of building but it's still a superb way to waste an afternoon chilling by the sea in the sun with a few drinks - MY fav e place was Ta Nona, got crap reviews but the pizzas were ace.
The ice cream place here is phenomenal too - the one opposite the bus stands.
Stone Crab did a very decent set menu if yer hungry the portions were massive.

Its a really nice walk down the main road from Victoria down to Xlendi, checked the bus times for the way back ;) We got kinda carried away one day on the local wine and aperol didn't make for a quick walk back lol
Lunzjata Valley is a lovely walk too mind you there's plenty or random places you can walk on the island.

The rooftop barbecue at the grand Hotel is deffo worth a shout too we've really enjoyed it each time we went.
Argh that says june onwards :( We do always try and go here when we visit as it's where we got married (that and they do a mean pina colada ;))

St Georges Bassilica has a nice little square out front with a good selection of food and drink, again a nice relaxed afternoon.

A place deffo to visit is Rizzles at St francis Square, whilst the equivalent of a greasy spoon the food is pretty damn good and dirt cheap, they also have a a superb selection of cakes and other sweet treats.

Never got round to going but.. https://gunblastshootingrange.com/about-us/ ... if you fancy shooting stuff

Some of the newspaper type ads have had both the Grand Hotel (Mgarr) and Saint Patricks Hotel (Xlendi) in the past at very good prices, flights can be pretty cheap too.

Odyssey, Pebbles and smugglers cave down marsalforn way for day time eating
Fat Rabbit at Nadur was very good evening meals the couple of times we've been, you'll likely need to book as it fills up fast and normally with locals lol

Ta Mena wine estate (and semi zoo lol) is a nice day out as well, children permitting
We did the tour thing that included sampling of the wines and charcuterie type boards with me dad who pretty much drinks nowt but john smiths.
Then the next time were there he wanted to goto the wine festival! normally around the end of august and has been a very good evening out for all of us each time we've went.
Selections of wines from pretty much all the local producers and a load of food stalls too.

And all of this is on top of the historical type stuff if you've never been to gozo before!

Awesome place with fantastic people :)
