Hi all,

Off to Edinburgh for a 3 night weekend. Getting early train up and late train back, therefore got most of Friday, all Saturday and Sunday and most of Monday there.

Iv made a list of the usual sights, the Castle, Royal Mile, The Palace, Arthurs Seat, the Scottish Museum, Royal Yatch Britannia and Real Mary Scott etc.

Staying in Travel lodge close to the train station and don't mind walking everywhere.

I would welcome:

1) Specific advice/tips on any of the main sites from your experience

2) Specific places to eat and drink that you can recommend

3) Good places to drink in the evening.... I assume its more pubs with live music like Dublin rather than clubs?

Any finally, any specific advice on which sights/activities are best grouped with which on the same day. Ie Itinerary layout to make logistical sense would be helpful.

Hope some forum members are Edinburgh locals and can provide some insider tips.........

I did this in April last year - Have a quick shufti here.

I don't know what it'll be like climbing up to Arthurs Seat this time of year but if you're going to do it, take the easy path up, ie turn left at the ice cream van and NOT right!

It's a great city, I really like it there. Get on some of the tours (details in the thread I've linked). Personally, I wouldn't bother with Mary King's Close, the other tours are better.
