We're looking at taking the kids on their first abroad holiday best year, unfortunately it will be in rip off season. We've thinking somewhere like Europe with watermarks nearby. I'm looking all inclusive and prices seem to vary wildly, the cheapest was about 1600, although I've seen somewhere better for 2600. I had a quick look at trying to book separately, but it seemed about the same prices, flights were 1000 for all 4 of us. The main thing I wondered is how do the rooms work with 4 of you if you don't want to be crammed into a tiny room? I know it sounds daft but I'd prefer a hotel room that is split up as the kids need a separate space, but they're not old enough for a room entirely to themselves (don't want a madelin case).

We have been to Turkey for the past few years, some brilliant all inclusive hotels with water parks. We always get told your going to Turkey? For us it's been a good family holiday. Just stay away for the Markets they are a hell hole.

We stayed at the Eden Resort in Portugal a few times if an tower block holiday isn't your type. The are villas. Been on the Algarve your close to a lot of big water parks. https://www.jet2holidays.com/portug...NngVCiz463Ehb2dwhl309umf1PRwBa7AaAjZDEALw_wcB

Forgot to add re your main question: Every Holiday we have been on there has been separate rooms. You tend to get a main bedroom and then the kids room with X2 single beds. Always best to just on google and research the room type like 2 bed villa. Most hotels now are heavily reviewed so you should have no issues finding a hotel with a couple of bedrooms.

The booking site will tell you the room arrangement. I.e. whether it's two separate twin/double rooms, or if it's a family room. Typically for the latter you'd pay more, as you tend to have a separate "living room" rather than it being part of the bedroom.

If it's an old hotel, you may even be able to request adjoining rooms where they have an internal door that you can use to go between both rooms. Although i rarely see these with modern hotels - but that may well be because i've not been put in an adjoining room.

Many hotels we have stayed in have one big room either with separate beds for the kids or a sofa bed. This has been a pain in the past. Recently we stayed in a hotel where there was a separate room for the kids with sliding doors. I'd booked this directly with the hotel and it was much better. I find many tour operators and hotel websites don't give much info about the room layout.

That's exactly the thing I'm looking for, I just wasn't sure on the terminology.
