Guys,

Just learnt from my Mrs (shes works in the same place as me) that her supervisor has asked her whole team (about 20 people) to book all there holiday for the year off now?!

The consequence is 90% of these people have booked off the so called "premium" dates without even having a reason!? :o

We were looking at holidays today but now between June and late Sept she only has a 2 week window to take one - doesnt seem to fair to me that all these people can book off time with having nothing booked :(

Is this the norm? Im a contractor so take time as when needed but she is obviously perm...

same here, i need to sort is asap to get any choice. last job was a bit more flexible, but they make the rules really :(

We were asked to do the same thing at the start of the week. I didnt have any plans, but i have now booked a holiday around the dates that i got.

The supervisor is a gimp. Most companies run a first come first served, with a minimum notice period. For companies where they know they'll have one really busy period they normally allow no holidays during certain parts of the year (used to be every year end, and I was expected, except under rare circumstances, to be at work at month end aswell).

I'd check the companies handbook (assumnig they have one) or go and whine at some body with more authority, 'cos thats just taking the proverbial.
