Holidays to Cairo?

Hi there. I'm looking to take my Dad on a week or so trip to Egypt, especially to see the pyramids and the like. I need to do it as cheaply as possible though! Anyone got any ideas or advice? TIA

We've been, I'd say don't cut corners and use a reputable company for tours once you are there because you'll get a guide.

My parents have done it since and basically just hired a cab at a day rate and got him to take them to all the sights (he came back every day because he knew he had a secured days work)

You don't need a guide for the museum of an antiquities in the city itself or the son et lumiaire or the spinx/ great pyramid but it you want to go out of the city to see the older pyramids you might want one. LOL I've talked myself out of you needing one now

A reasonable hotel shouldn't be too hard to find and if you look on trip advisor you shouldn't end up in a poo hole add cheap flights on and your on a winner
