My mate is after a modem (USB broadband) that will work in the UK and in Holland. Will any bog standard modem do the job, or does he need to pick up a special type?

Thanks for any advice,

I've spoken to him more. Basically, he is after the internet here and Holland for about 2 years. He doesn't really want to pay for a phone line while there, but might have to. I did think about the vodaphone £15 for 3GB option for the UK, but that is useless for Holland.

Any ideas as to ways of getting him onto the net cheaply in both countries?

are the sim cards swappable in these 3G dongles? If so you could try getting a dutch 3G subscription as well as a UK one, may work out cheap enough.

If he has a fixed address in holland; I would suggest getting a dutch 3g package; which were much better priced than the UK ones last time I checked. Then grab something similar in the UK, or a proper home broadband setup if he's got a phone line etc in the uk.
