Absolutely. While Leicester City were getting ****** in the Championship, where is Holloway? Writing columns for the BBC or sitting as a pundit giving his 'expert' opinion on MoTD.
Said in the othe thread, his press-conferences are funny but since being promoted, everything he's said has shown how out of touch he is with reality of top flight football.
It's all very nice he's said those things that reflect how fans feel but that just isn't how football is. Ironic he says that "[these people] aren't in the real world" because the very fact he's disagreed with it shows he's seemingly in the dark about how football works too. Rooney's in a very capitalistic sport and I have no problem with his actions as he's legally therefore morally done nothing wrong. It's just something that has to be dealt with.
Of course he is out of touch with top flight football. Look at the teams he's played for and managed and their results. He isn't someone you would hire if your premiership team needed a manager.
Whilst he may be out of touch with the current state of real world football, you have to agree with some of the points he raises. I agree that the bosman ruling was a disaster for clubs (and not just because players can walk away after their contract has expired) and instantly put the power onto the players and the agents that are constantly whispering in their players ears about 'Man City have asked if you're available' and 'have you thought about moving clubs? I heard Carlo Ancelotti has said good things about you' because an Agent gets a huge pay day whern a player moves. Sometimes as much as 10% of the transfer fee. or you could be Harry Kewells agent and get 40% of the fee! if the premier league collapses in a big way (and there's every possibility it very well might.) then things don't look good. Sky are in bed with ESPN and I doubt ESPN will make any big steps towards bidding for more rights than they already have, or if they do then maybe one more package. Now that BT and Virgin media have Sky Sports one and two and 'wholesale' prices there's little incentive for them to bid for the live games. The BBC and ITV either don't have the budget in ITV's case or won't risk public wrath for bidding a huge amount of money for something that a large percentage of Licence payers have no interest in. There's every possibility that come the next round of negotiations Sky will either bid the same or possibly even LESS than they bid last time as there's no real competitors now. The Premier League could be in line for a huge fall and it's even possible that several clubs staying afloat on TV money alone could run very close to administration or even go under.
He's a complete tit, did he worry about Plymouth when he walked?
Perhaps he preferred it when clubs had complete power and players were traded like Panini stickers, I wonder how many people in the 'real' world would have their heads turned if they were offered to double their wages?
It's Phil Brown all over again. In six months time his team will have stopped winning unlikely matches, and he'll have done something stupid publicly with his players, and suddenly everyone will switch their take from Tactical Genius And All-Round Funnyman Ian Holloway to Silly Prat With Over-Inflated Ego Ian Holloway.
