Well, some time ago, I bought a Canon 35-80mm USM lens. It was about £20 off ebay, and isn't the greatest lens. But I wanted to take the front element off to see what I could do. Well, today, I got the right size screwdriver and gave it a whirl. These aren't particularly in focus and are hand held jobs, but give a good idea of the capability of this.

Depth of field anyone?

Depth of field is very small with Macro stuff.
My 100mm Macro lens with all 3 extension tubes produces a depth of field of a few millimeters at F8.

This is one of the reasons why a good Macro flash is highly recommended. Otherwise it's very hard getting an insect in focus whilst maintaining a fast shutter speed without under exposing the photo.

forum resident rG-Tom has similar photos.. of both CRT's and TFT's.. a fair bit more macro than your macro shots.. just goes to show how much clearer TFT's are for text :D
