today i got my new case from a kind MM member, the Antec super lanboy (£28!! what a bargain!!) . initially it was a toss up between this, the antec sonata and the coolermaster ammo but 95% of you said to go with this so here i am...
first thing to note is that its tiny!!! had a little trouble with the cd drives as the bottom mount for them backs on to the Ram chips, clever boy who ever designed my mobo. i also had trouble with my fan controller in that ive had to remove one of the knobs in order to get the door shut, but ive patched it up so it looks o.k. anyway, its all stuffed in their nice and neat now, ive gotta say i think lights on cases are akin to chavs vauxhall novas with blue strips on the bottom, but given the performance of this case i will make an exception.
TEMPS:
before: (recorded in my old case)
GPU temp 55oC (X1800XT)
HDD temp 33oC
CPU external (surface) temp 32oC
CPU internal temp 37oC (its an AMD a3000+ clocked from 1.8Ghz to 2.4Ghz)
system temperature 35oC
New case:
GPU temp 53oC (X1800XT)
HDD temp 28oC
CPU external (surface) temp 30oC
CPU internal temp 32oC (its an AMD A3000+ clocked from 1.8Ghz to 2.4Ghz)
system temperature 31oC
initial impressions are all good and it seems the as2 i found in a drawer has helped too
now im not sure what section this should go in because its about cooling my overclocked system, but i will leave that to the mods to figure out,
all i will say is this is the first non generic case i have ever bought and the first one ive bought myself in 5 years, the old one i had was big, but not up to todays modern formats, i.e. no front ports, only 80mm fan ports, it did have a handle though, and by the time i had finished with the bolt cutters at the rear, it had 1 120mm fan bay at least
p.s. excuse the trashy wallpaper, its the attick and it hasnt been decorated for a looooong time due to it now being a workshop / study
