Home alarm system

You have 2 choices. You can either install it instead of a detector base and run an alarm cable to the panel or if your alarm panel is being installed near your fuse board (most are) install the relay base near your panel and get the cover for it. I would also look at the version with a battery

Great thanks, My alarm panel and fuse board are(will) be on the same wall in the garage, the garage heat sensor will be just under 3m's away from the panel so I'll just replace the base there and hardwire it across.
 
@pommy02 @[Darkend]Viper how does the following sound?

I'm about to order the following to start me off, the 4 wired zones are enough so will run the cables for these and the extra FMK in the hall (assuming correctly the 8 core is sufficient for the keypad) and then add the wired DT sensors, smartcom and FMK once everything is boarded.

Wired zones off the panel will be, kitchen dinner, Hall, living room, landing
Garage will have a 360 DT sensor wired off the garage keypad

Regarding the bell though I personally always prefer wired. Not a massive fan of the Texecom one though as I have had a fair few leds go. I use pyronix deltabell x with the light pad. Makes the house less appealing to a scum bag because it’s obvious you’ve got an alarm
 
I have an existing wired alarm with 4 PIRs and two door contacts installed 6 years ago My fitter is due to come for the annual service next month. If i bought the texecom kit would it be as simple as swapping the panel, keypad and adding the wifi unit and just keep the existing cabling and PIRs?

Great thanks I'll take a look at that one, again I'm assuming that 8 core cable is suitable for all accessories including the bell, extra keypads etc?

5 Wired zones (4 off the main control panel and 1 off one of the wired keypads)
initially 2 wireless door sensors but with the ability to add further

Damn no I haven't :rolleyes:

No drama though just need to remember to leave one of the control box zones free for the smoke alarm and use either the second zone on the garage keypad or maybe take the upstairs landing PIR off the Hall keypad.
 
Ordered the Kit-86 from Alert yesterday, plus battery and a reel of 8 core cable, came in slightly more expensive than elsewhere but Alert electrical seemed to get recommended the most.

I was about 10m short of cable to run the bell but everything else is run, I'll decide this week whether to get another reel or just opt for a wireless bell.
