Hello everyone, Just before Christmas, I setup a new Unifi Cloud Gateway Fibre (UCG-Fiber), I also have two U7 Pro XGS APs. I would like to get the APs wired into the ceiling properly - one on the ground floor and the other on the landing upstairs. At the moment, one AP is connected directly to the UCG-Fiber (via the PoE+ port) and placed next to it flat, and the other is on a table in the landing upstairs running in mesh mode (powered by a PoE++ injector).

Who should I approach for getting the Ethernet run properly and having the APs installed, and how much should I be looking to pay? I am really not confident in DIY, so I think this task may be beyond my skill level.

NB: Despite my current make do setup, I have been very impressed with the coverage and performance. Also thanks to the 4x4 radios on the 5ghz band on these APs, I am getting internet throughput of over 1000/1000 Mbps via the meshed AP and 1300/1300Mbps via the directly connected one. Also, via ethernet I am getting 2300+/2300+ on my PC (PPPoE CityFibre connection with Aquiss). I imagine the hardware offloading on this gateway helps.

Many thanks.

I'd look at smart home or TV aerial/AV installers. Electricians can probably do the cable run but they'll charge electrician rates for it and they aren't usually very good with data.

My brother-in-law did mine, he’s an electrician. We ran cables up the cavity using rods. Luckily there was a couple of decent size holes we could get the rods in, otherwise it’s probably knocking a brick out to gain access if you want it all internal. Might be easier running up the outside. It wasn’t that straight forward, and cavity wall insulation made it a bit more tricky. As above, maybe an aerial installer might be a bit cheaper.
