The only matter over thread device I have setup is my Tado heating. You still need a Thread Border Router but this doesn't necessarily connect to HA like you do with a Zigbee dongle. For example, the Tado X programmer that connects directly to my boiler acts as a Thread Border Router. The Tado X wireless thermostat is an end device but the more routers you have, the better the network. This part acts the same as what Zigbee does.Has anyone hooked up any Matter over Thread devices yet? I picked up some IKEA Matter switches but I’ve not yet got a Matter/ Thread dongle. Just wondering if it’s just the same experience as connecting Zigbee devices
Matter over Thread (as opposed to Matter over WiFi) doesn’t work on the congested 2.4Ghz spectrum so is less prone to interference. There’s more to it (much more) but this is my main interest in itWhat are the advantages of matter compared to zigbee?
Is it just a matter of preference?
Has anyone managed to get Home Assistant remote access working with cloudflare zero trust?
For me, working means being able to access it via the iOS app without having to load up any separate software when out and about? I’ve seen the guides online but none of them really mention app access?
I’m not totally against paying for the built in version - however like most people I’m loathe to add another subscription.
To answer my own question, I’d forgotten that my two Apple HomePods act as Thread Border Routers so I didn’t need any additional hardware. Just finished connecting a BILRESA scroll wheel to Home Assistant. For anyone trying to do the same and failing, the QR code is on the device in the battery compartment. It’s not the one on the box… Took me a good hour to work out what to scanHas anyone hooked up any Matter over Thread devices yet? As I don’t want to have to load up and connect to a vpn every time I want to access HA away from home. If there is a way to do this then I’d love to know. Why not just set up a VPN? Much easier to do.
I’m comfortable following guides but it involves paying for a domain as I aren’t trusting any free domains. So I want to be confident it will work as seemless as the YouTubers make out. As an example one guide shows that you to accept a security warning every time you access it via a browser ..I set up zero trust via Cloudflare as I didnt want to turn on a VPN every time. I use Tailscale already for other self hosted things, but gave Cloudflare a go for fun, for HAOS.
Don't ask me how to do it though, every time I look at Cloudflare admin panels my mind draws a blank.
Yep I mentioned that in my post, although I have no need for the online back up or the Alexa/Google voice assistantsI looked at the How Tos for Cloudflare but didn’t have the patience to work through them especially as I already had a VPN to my home network set up. To greatly simplify things you can also pay to support Cabu Nasa. One of the perks is one click remote access.

This is the case for all Internet connection required items from what I understand.Does anyone else's Hive Hub appear to go offline after an internet outage ?
Resolution seems to be to power cycle the Hive Hub ?

No I don't think that's the norm, internet dependent devices seem to re-establish themselves post outage
I've got the reolink POE doorbell and it works really well with home assistant, good surfaced events etc. Also got it tied into frigate. I've not sorted out 2 way audio yet though to be fair, few hoops to jump through there from what I've heard! What's the best doorbell for HA
Have a eufy duo wired but thinking reolink poe seems to be the gold standard so to speak
