Hi All -
So I built my own pc, about 5 years ago - and all was good until recently, when I have noticed some issues, to a point where the machine no longer boots up.

The machine powers on, fans on, but does not boot. For a while if you switched on and off, it would eventually boot up - and if left in sleep mode, it would start up 99% of the time. Not sure if this indicates a particular component starting to fail?!

Now I cant seem to get the machine to boot at all.

Its definitely not the PSU, have used that to power on another machine.

Is this likely to be an issue with the Mobo, or CPU? Is there any easy way to tell?

One thing, not sure if its an indicator of something, if i have USB mouse and keyboard plugged in, when powered on, the mouse red light comes on, but the keyboard shows no signs of life(back lit keyboard)

I would have thought MOBO should have been good for a while longer yet, is it time to just bite the bullet, upgrade to new mobo & cpu, and reuse PSU, GPU, Ram and harddrives?

Appreciate if any experts out there can give me some thoughts on potentially what is problem & solutions - much appreciate it!

When you say it doesn't boot, what happens... Does it post at all? Have you tried removing the graphics card and seeing if it will boot?

To be honest I wouldnt use the lights of the mouse or keyboard as an indicator, your keyboard lights might only come on once the systems booted, mine does.

I would try the basic things first, test without gpu, test with different ram configurations if you can and see how that goes.

We need full system specs as well as any other information you can provide about the history of the machine (previous problems etc). Also please answer rickthomuk's questions above.

Merry Christmas.
