thanks for the replies
my knowledge of AV recievers etc.. is limited so thats why ive been going for all in ones.

Budget isnt strict, i can go above if needed

4K/HDR not important right now

Atmos is something im interested in

Balance: Probably (60% Movies/TV | 20% Gaming | 20% Music)

Room size: Roughly 20ft x 15ft

Any speakers are fine

Thanks for your answers bud.

Typically i'd give you a few options, normally the Q7000, KEF 3005SE, Monitor Audio MASS or Q Acoustic 3000 Series (Providing you either liked bookshelf units or listened to allot of music. I'd also say demo sets before you make a decision.

But... After seeing the PeterTyson offer with the Monitor Audio MASS 5.1, i'd pull the trigger mate. Purely as i think it might be a miss price so you dont want to miss out as they have the RXV381 with the same speakers for the same price. I've never owned a set but demo'd them and seen so many people rave about them. For £699 it's a steal, the AVR is typically £400-£450 new everywhere. So you're getting the speaker set for £299 - which is just insane as they're £599 new. For example, Richersounds have same bundle but with Denon X2300W and it's £879

Your other option is the Denon at £59 more - advantage of that is all the HDMI ports are 2.0 and 2.2 HDCP, i personally have the X2300W and love it bu the Yamaha is a top AVR aswell.

Yes you'll need speaker cable, very easy to setup. Just measure out your space to figure how much you'd need then buy that amount, you just cut it up and take some of the sleve off to feed in (Or buy some cheap banana plugs so they're easy to plug and unplug). You'll also seen a sub cable, i personally use QED Micro cable (http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-cables/qed/micro/qed-micro) You can get cheaper though and often people sell QED Micro on eBay for less. Sub cable, around £8 dependant on length you need (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisual-5m-...UTF8&qid=1486665310&sr=8-5&keywords=Sub+cable)

ordered the one at 699, i'll see whether i get it or it is indeed a misprice
never done any cabling before but ill learn how

Has anyone bought from petertyson online before?

Put an order in yesterday evening and no email or anything yet. Meant to be next day delivery aswell

Thanks for the replies

Any cabling tips? Im gonna run about 6m x 2 of cable under carpet to back of room for surround speakers but unsure how to fix up wall

Trunking, the same colour as the wall. Or use P nail clips, then paint the cable same colour as the wall. Or poshest would cut a channel in the plaster, fit trunking run cable down into external speaker connectors, then run cable from wall to front. Or run cables from speaker connectors to amp under floorboard

thanks
trunking seems like a good option (maybe adhesive?), ill just find some to match wall colour

Goodies have arrived, i didnt realise the sub was this big

It took me about 30 minutes lol to wire up 1 speaker (never done it before)
Tested it and this 1 speaker sounds better than my old sony all in one.

Will this work correctly?
HDMI IN (Arc) > AV to TV

Then rest of devices by HDMI out
PS4, nvidia shield, sky TV

Hoping i get HD passthrough this way

I still can't believe they're selling that bundle for that price, must not be a miss price. Really great offer that.

Looks like you just need a 1/4" UNC thread - so probably lots of options like the ones below;

Thanks, gonna get a couple of these
AV reciever was pretty straightforward to set up
Still need to test whether nvidia shield n PS4 passthrough the HD audio through hdmi.

I have an optical audio cable though unused, not sure if ill need it.

All is good now
Downloaded movies with DTS-HD / DTS:X and they play perfect from nvidia shield

I know these are better with 7.1 and will probably add the rear surrounds in the future.

Sky HD, i use surround decode as a lot of channels are 2.0 so it outputs to all speakers

After you run the YPAO, change the crossover size yourself, as AVR's get this wrong. Your speakers are small, and you'd want the crossover quite high. Probably 100-120hz or so (would need to read your speaker specs)

Does anyone know how to do this on yamaha av's
Ive looked through settings and cant find anything

I just did this and set all 5 to small and 100hz
Is that about right?

Menu shows up to 160hz but im not sure how much is too much

What about the frequency / volume of the sub?

Thanks for any suggestions
