Hi folks,
Recently bought a new house which, conveniently, has a spare 4.25 x 3.75m room and we've decided to turn it into a home cinema/chill out room.
My sitting room currently has a Sony KDL50W706 fed by Raspberry Pi running RASPBMC, PS3 and I have an Arcam CD player, Meridian Pre/Power amp setup and B&W DM7 speakers.
I will be ordering an Optoma HD141x tomorrow as I've found it at a great price and seems to get decent reviews. This will be fed by a skybox, PS3 (barely use it currently so will be a good excuse to get gaming again/upgrade to PS4) and another Raspberry Pi running Raspbmc/openELEX.
I'm a bit lost when it comes to a 5.1 setup as I've always stuck to a stereo setup. I'm not looking for Meridian/B&W quality for the cinema room - just bang for buck and reasonable quality. Due to the layout of the room, I will be constrained to either bookshelf or satellite speakers and a subwoofer. Ideally, satellite speakers would be great as they're relatively discrete.
They'll be mostly used for movies/gaming and background music during parties, the system in the sitting room will be used for any proper music listening.
Ideally, I'd like to spend around the £400 mark for amp/speakers/sub - any suggestions? Happy to go second hand.
