Looking to put together a 2.1 setup 4k receiver on a budget

no issue going for second hand kit but it’s a lot of choice to Wade through

need 4k pass through at a minimum as used with Xbox series X and occasionally virgin box.

hooked up to a Philips 65inch 4k set

Previously had a onkyo and mordaunt short setup and was very happy with the quality of that

many suggestions welcome

Onkyo TX-8270 - stereo receiver with 4* HDMI, 4K pass-thru and sub out. Finding one may prove difficult. Else look towards 1st gen 4k AVRs like the Denon X2200W.

Are you able to include a centre speaker? I would always recommend a centre speaker.

I think he means he wants an amp, front left and right and a sub for less than £750.

Not £750 on a subwoofer alone.

Ive been happy with my Dali Zensors for years. Can be picked up cheap enough now I expect.

Used to have the same setup, switched for a Denon 2400/Q Acoustics 3030i setup with Wharfedale sub (because the q acoustic sub is trash). Over your price range new for exact like for like, but both the receiver and speakers have more budget friendly options.

BK subwoofer could be had second hand for 250ish, such as an XXLS400, then 300 for an amp and the rest on the 2.0.

Zensors are great they have a warm tone to them with a smidge of mid range energy to them. I moved onto Ikons which are technically superior and you can learn their strengths (more accurate zensors with excellent treble extension) but the zensors are fantastic value and a great HT speaker. For pure hifi they're good side of average.
