My Dad has gone nuts a redecorated the living room. He currently has a very basic 5.1 system that he bought some 8 years ago with his current TV. The setup of the living room now dictates he has nowhere to put the speakers of the current kit.

I've suggested a soundbar, but he has turned this down flat as he wants 5.1 so is on about having a 5.1 system with at the very least wireless rear speakers. I know you could get them some 10 years or so ago, but I haven't kept up to date with the market (no need with having a Yamaha and a Marantz av amp)

Google isn't very useful - its showing me wireless capabale systems for the internet. Anyone know of anything or is he looking for something that now has no place and he'll have to rethink his plans and look at something else ?

Wireless speakers will require a power cable- so not really wireless. Unless he uses rechargable speakers. Also bandwidth is not the same as need to be transmitted over bluetooth.

Just go for wired speakers with your typical AVR and regular front three and active subwoofer, get some flat or thin speaker cable and bobs your uncle.

Thats what I thought to be honest. I agree with you, thats the best option.
