Hi

We have a a couple of users who get an 'access denied' message when clicking on their H: home drive. All other users have no problem.

Home drives are mapped via a policy as H:

The home drive can be manually mapped and the user can then access it fine.

The problem occurs on both Win7 and XP desktops for the affected users.

Any ideas?

Are you setting them as their home drives via the active directory setting or as a mapped drive in another sense of the word?

Sounds like you just need to check the folder permissions for each user.

When set via AD, when the user logs on the folder should automatically be created with the correct user and system permissions.

Might be worth coping the folder contents, deleting it, and getting the user to log in again, which should re-create the home drive folder correctly.

Well, thats what I have done in the past anyway.

We were having this on Server 2003 when using the Home Drive section in AD User Properties, the permissions all seemed fine, but removed the Home Drive mapping and then re-added it. Sorted everything out straight away.

I don't let AD do it by itself. We map ours using the .VBS login script. It deletes all drives first to stop any ched crap happening, the re-maps home drive with the other drives.
