hi

I have a load of home dvds that I converted from vhs , but they dont play on my dvd player or laptop.

They were created on a Sony hdd recorder but I no longer have this and they did work on this player.

I'm not sure if its a file format problem or something else so am looking for a program to hopefully see if I can transfer them again.

Does anyone know of a good free program or premium program with perhaps a trial so that I can see if it can play them on my laptop?

cheers

hi

My laptop detects the dvd-r but cant read any files , I go into properties and it says there are no files on the disk.

although these dvds do work on the original player I created them on.

So in Windows Explorer you can't see any files at all? What is the storage used on the disc?

Whilst VLC and Media Player Classic are both amazing players, I doubt they'll work if Windows can't even see a file?

Did you finalise the discs when you created them in the original player? Just to check, you're saying you do still have the original player?
