Home Hub onlocking

Well, the guide isn't the greatest how-to, but it does show you the header in the bottom left pic. The pin-out is in the table. Other pics show the board layout and where the different connections route to on the board. Make sure you understand the table and connect to the right pins via the breadboard cable you got with the adaptor, then follow the instructions for flashing. The rough setup would be PC->USB->adaptor->breadboard cable->HUB PCB. Why it's still so ghetto in this day and age only an electrical engineer can tell you. :p You could test its basic functionality with another serial interface (from the bay I note it's advertised for arduino people). And there's probably a youtube vid that shows you what to do anyway.
 
The only bit you would be missing from those pics is three wires + serial connector (essentially the other end of your USB converter, which is a cheap bit you can find sold separately). It looks like both guides are skipping steps they took and focus on the flashing. I suppose one could get creative and strip ends off some of those breadboard cables in the kit and solder them directly to the required points of the PCB on the hub, hence bypassing the need for a second connector, and maybe that's what the authors have done in the first place. As above, if unsure, watch a vid. :) If there's not one for the Hub wrt project, then there's probably one for arduino and the basics are essentially the same - hooking up connections and knowing the pinout.
