We're in the process of moving house, and the house we're buying is quite old (~330 years). A lot of insurance companies won't insure properties built that long ago (I think 1850 was the number a couple gave).

Does anyone have any experience with home insurance for a house of this sort of age & can suggest insurers to try?

I am wondering if I'd be best finding an insurance broker for it, as it's a bit specialist, I was just hoping someone would know of a fairly mainstream provider that is happy with it, as it'll help keep the costs down.

For mine i don't remember the price through the broker being much different to what i was expecting from comparison sites when i was a bit vague and not ticking the box about the trees/river.

Worth getting in touch and finding a quote, no requirement to then go with it.
Yea, I'll probably add it into my list of things to do as part of the quote process
