Do any of you guys make your own food to take out on rides?

I make banana bread etc quite often, but I'm after something like clif bars, or something similar to make at home.

I've had a go at rice bars with mixed success, I might have another go though.

I tend not to bother with solid snacks but I do make my own energy drinks, as I find them more convenient to carry and consume while riding.

I have different recipes depending on how long or intense the ride is and that will also determine whether I make up a 500ml drinks bottle or go up to 3L in my hydro pack.

Happy to share the recipes if you're interested but as you're asking for food I don't want to fill your thread up with useless info. :)

I'm on my phone but hestons energy bars are brilliant.

I'll dig out some other recipes later I've tried. Usually Good combo of oats, sugar fats and protein will keep me going so stuff with seeds, nuts, dried fruit combinations always work well.

When doing bigger rides I do favour proper food over gel and will often take peanut butter and jelly filled something (sandwich, bagel, croissant etc) known to take a bacon roll on occasion too when mountain biking wrapped up in foil.keeps toasty for a whole.

I sometimes make a flapjack which is a dead easy to put together - oats, crushed cornflakes, flour, sugar, marg/butter and golden syrup. Mix all the dry ingrediants, melt the butter with the syrup, mix it all together and bake. Will find the quantities if anyone wants to try it.
