Hi,
I am about to start planning a new pc build however the cupboard where I want to keep it isn't very deep - only about 43cm. I am probably going to go for an atx mobo and radeon 5870 however all the cases I have looked at are too deep. The overall volume of the cupboard is big enough so I was considering cutting a couple of holes in the back for ventilation and then building a framework to hold the pc out of meccano or something. Anybody have any better ideas?

thks

There are quite a few American sites whose users often document about building computer cases in good detail, a quick google search should be able to turn them up.
If the cupboard is too small is there any chance of taking the back panel off and setting a case further back?

I do have a few old pc cases around so they may give me some useful parts so will check them out tonight.

I could cut the back off the cabinet however, I would then need to move the cabinet further away from the wall which isn't ideal but is a last resort.

Having thought about this, I don't think it is going to work. Whilst I am not worried about drink spills, dust etc. I conveniently forgot that I have a two year old who likes opening cupboards and pulling out everything he finds in side. I think I may have to resort to a traditional case out in the open rather than a bunch of components hidden away. :-(
