Anyone had a shot at this?

I'm looking to make two to mount my Sonos One's on. I'm not a fan of blocky wood and love the look of some of the more "minimal" stands such as the GT Studio Stand:1 (which does not suit the Sonos One, just the Play:1)

I assume the idea is to have the most stable platform so the speakers movement is translated into moving air rather than moving stands, but is there some science in the base and/or floor spikes? Materials? Etc....

Thanks

Well there's the old one where you use threaded bars, washers on nuts on either side of a piece of wood. Pretty simple to make, and cheap.

Yep science to stands, you want the speaker to be stationary not rocking back and forth, on the stand, and you don't want the stand to rock either, and the spikes are there so vibration on the floor isn't transmitted to the stand (and vice versa) smaller area means less vibration.

I use marble cutting boards under the speaker, then speaker spike cups, then on the bottom of the speaker (or stand) spike.

Haven't made my own but I did buy some high end stands for half price, they weigh 80kg for the pair so no way would they move or wobble.
