I have a powerline home network connecting my sky box, smart TV, PC and a ReadyNAS Duo. I have wireless in the house and garden.

I bought the NAS 5 years ago when I was motivated to expand my techy knowledge but life got in the way. At present it sits in my workshop as an out of the house manual back up for my family photos. It is set up as a 1Tb raid 0 drive basically. I am not using any of its clever features. I have a few DVDs on it that I'm working through on my tablet.

I would like to transfer my MP3 collection to the drive and play them in the living room. I would like a simple system that easily finds the files and plays them. The missus wants DAB radio too. I guess radio streaming might provide this instead but my internet connection never manages more than 2Mbits.

I've seen Sonos products but do not know enough to find the right solution. I could stretch to a couple of hundred quid for a user friendly solution I'm not an audio fiend so I'm not aiming for super hi fidelity.

Any help would be much appreciated. If anyone knows a good primer on the subject that would be cool.

I picked up a sqeezebox classic v3 off the bay a couple of weeks ago for £50. You just install the Sqeezebox server software on your PC, Mac or nas. Then it should connect up and away you go. All my music is on my main PC not a nas but a quick google shows it's easy enough to run off a nas as well.

A quite a nifty piece of kit and really easy to use. Also apps for phones and tablets, iOS and android.

I have a synology nas running squeeze server, squeeze box classic connected to wifi network, av amp connected to squeezebox, use an ipad running squeeze pad to control it all works a treat.

Does your smart TV not allow you to stream files on the network? My LG uses plex and streams movies and music, although it isn't the most elegant solution. I use xbmc on my htpc to do most of my streaming in the living room. Can control that from my phone too.

I don't know if my TV plays music from the server I have had galleries of photos and supposedly plays videos but I've never managed to get the file format right, although I haven't put mega effort into it.

I'll check the ready nas forums there might be a squeeze box app.

edit thx for the responses btw
