Hi, looking at setting up a home network, currently have virgin superhub which isnt so super!

basically we are looking to use superhub as modem and plug in wireless router and gigabit switch to it. hopefully network it all so each comp can talk to each other and have 1 main unit for all the files and downloading.

now the problem is what is the best way to do all this.

we have :
superhub
tplink 5 port gigabite switch ( will upgrade to more ports as needed)
2 desk top pc's
2 laptops
2 htpc's
yamaha network amp
xbox 360

we plan to have wdtv in each room which doesnt have a pc or htpc

we dont have wireless router yet!

can anyone help us/guide us through doing all this properly maybe even a diagram of how things should be plugged.

many thanks in advance

Ok so try this.

Virgin Super hub configured as modem.
Patched into a DrayTek 2750n
Patched into a Netgear JGS516
Chase your Cat6 cabling into walls/floorboards and terminate with Triax Cat6 modules into wall plates.
Then patch in appropriate devices as per your list, leaving some sockets (modules) for a couple of DrayTek AP700 access points to improve wireless for laptops and phones

Shopping list:

DrayTek 2750n
DrayTek AP700 x 2
Netgear JGS516
Connectix Cat6 box + patch leads (see cable monkey.co.uk)
Triax Cat 6 White Module (304288)
Triax White Wall plate (304200)
47mm back boxes
