I have a laptop, and a download box set up on my network. The download box has a static IP, so I can quickly access it through VNC. The laptop has a dynamic address, and both are wired into a 4-port modem/router.
Going in through VNC, the download box can see the laptop, and access its shared files, but the laptop sees, but can't access the download box through "My Network Places". I can copy files across using VNC, but I would like to stream films etc to the laptop using the plain old File and Folder sharing....and it's just set to use Simple File Sharing.
I solved this a couple of years ago, but I've plain forgotten what I did
Any ideas how I can make my laptop "see" the download box?
TIA
*DOH! When I set the subnet mask for the static IP, I screwed up.....
