I have

broadband into a Speedtouch 585

single ethernet cable running upstairs into attic

then i've tried to connect a Linksys wireless router (no ADSL modem, just router) connected (speedtouch into the Linksys's "internet" ethernet port

i thought i'd turn off DHCP on the linksys, but it's all not working
leaving it on, is 2 seperate networks it seems, but doesn't work

any ideas?

i tried turning off the dhcp in the speedtouch, and everyone was happily connected to the network via linksys, but no internet!! please help!!

if you're using the speedtouch as a modem more than a router you want to set the linksys on a static IP and make it the DMZ on the speedtouch. Otherwise you'll have a double NAt going on which won't be ideal
If you just want it as a wireless access point turn off DHCP on the linksys and connec the speedtouch to a LAN port on the linksys.
