Home network setup questions

I'am just about to move into a new house with a new housemate that insists on a wireless network for her computer. My questions are hopefully simple.

1) Will i have problems playing games (fps and rts) over a wireless network?

2) Can i make my computer a wired network computer and hers wireless, if so how do i go about that and would my computer need to stay on 24/7 so hers can connect

Sorry if these are simple questions but i've been spoiled with the Uni network for the last 2.5 years and i have no expierence of this 'wireless' world

Get yourself a wireless/wired router (it'll have about 4 wired ports on the back).

There shouldn't be a problem playing games over the wireless network, that'll probably depend on the distance though.

You can play games on the wireless, but you may end up with a high ping depending on the distance. The best thing to do is wire yours up to the router. Ive done this, my pc is wired, my lappy is wireless.
