Hi Guys

Thinking of setting up a network at home for learning and experimentation purposes.

So I have built a Server 2003 box and I am planning on making it an AD controller, but the one thing that has always been a black art to me is DNS. So after some advice.

Clients connect directly to the net via the router, they dont go via the server.

How do I setup the DNS on the server so AD works but my clients still look outside to resolve addresses.

Here a rough sketch of how I want it to work

half way down the page, DNS bit

clients must use the DC as the dns server

that then forwards lookups out that are not to do with the internal network.

making a reverse lookup zone will help with diagnostics etc

Ive dropped my isp's DNS servers in the forward zones so hopefully we should be good to go know.

Problem is im still waiting for my ADSL to go live
