All I do is Play Games, Browse the Web and do a bit of Photoshop, 1 Question Is XP Proffesional worth the extra £30 over Home. (OEM of course)

For all you need, Home is plenty. You only need Pro if your gonna add the pc to a domain.
Or wanting to use Microsoft Remote Desktop as one end must be XP Professional. But in XP Home you can use VNC anyway.

Home is perfect for your needs, unless you want 4Gbs of RAM in which case you will need XP 64 which is XP Professional only!

if it's for the pc in your sig, get vista home basic 64, or vista home premium 64 (or xp64 if you want to stick with xp)

have to get 64bit to use all that ram

plus, it's faster

well at the minute, the PC in my sig is dual booting with Home, and vista. But I'm building another PC up (only gonna have 2g of ram) and PC magazines always seem to point to Pro over Home. I just wondered if it was any better, as i've never used Pro before. I'm not a masssive fan of Vista so i'll stick with Home then. Thanx

( I only bought 4g of ram for my main PC because i didn't want to lose Dual Channel, The 3.25g it shows me is plenty)

any pc magazine telling home users to use pro should be shot

the only differences are domain joining (and password saving) and remote desktop

Agreed!

And these magazines are probably also claiming, doing what they tell you will save money. Hmmm!!

If you have a server environment, then Professional is needed, if you are a standard Home user on a modem or simple router network XP Home is only required.

And even if you need remote desktop on home VNC is a perfectly good alternative.
