Hi folks. I have converted my shed into an office, and at the moment use 300mps wireless from the house to the shed. The signal isnt great sometimes the internet runs like a dream and other times its hopeless. And pulling large files from my server in the house is a nightmare.
I was thinking of getting some home plugs. But will they be strong enough to pass though 2 consumer units?

socket>>>consumer unit>>>>consumer unit>>>>>socket

cheers guys.

Is it too tricky to run an Ethernet lead (outdoor one obviously).

It would be abit of a pain but not impossible. i didnt know you could get outdoor ethernet cables.
also my wife has been moaning about the amount of cables stuck to the side of the house. i thought it would be a good idea to have virgin in just about every room.

Running a cable is better for two reasons - guaranteed 100mbit link to the router so you don't get drop outs and cost :) You can get outdoor cabling which is a little thicker, or can run standard cable inside a conduit or similar.

They are always complaining about cables or something else - its one of their many pleasures in life.
Go ethernet cable

Powerplug kits and consumer units don't play together nicely I'm afraid. Ethernet or wireless or a combination would be best.

An openreach engineer told me that the newer adaptors use the earth wire instead of the live, so have no problems with consumer units.

Ethernet is best but decent powerline adaptors can be a decent alternative.
