Afternoon all
I've decided we need a home server/media pc and would like to get a few ideas/opinions from you.
I plan to build it out of the following spare bits:
Intel E6700 (stock cooler)
2BG Corsair XMS2 DDR2
Choice of Abit AW9D-MAX, Asus P5W DH or an Intel D975XBX2 that the E6700 is in at the moment.
Akasa Ultra Quiet 460W PSU
An old nVidia GPU 9600 I think?
Will pickup up two new WD 1TB harddrives to start off with.
Main use will be storage but it will also need to stream content to multiple tvs, ps3, torrents and all the rest...
As it will be on 24/7 I plan to downclock the CPU to hopefully save on power and heat.
Cases that catch my eye are the Antec P183 or the Fractal Define R2 but open to anything providing it has 6 or more HDD bays.
I do have a Lian-li PC60A+ around somewhere but its bloody noisy and im not sure if replacing the fans would help enough.
Am I going the right way about this for what it going to be used for?
