I'd like to build a very cheap home media server that can also output to a 42" LCD TV
ASll it has to do is be able to download iplayer, skyplayer and the like and playback onto a 42" LCD.
Also in the house are the PC as per sig, and a Samsung lappy. I would like to be able to remotly operate the server PC and have it download stuff that I can then stream to the other PCs in the house.
I'm not intending to game or even wordprocess on it.
I'd like to do this as cheaply as possible. Wouldn't we all.
have the case, PSU and HDDs etc from old builds but need advice on the MOBO, CPU and RAM. Ideally a MOBO that has HDMI output so no need for GPU
I have in mind
ASUS M4A785D-M PRO APPROX £58
AMD ATHLON II X2 240 APPROX £45
RAM 4GB CRUCIAL 1333 DDR3 £80
So what's the least I can realistically get away with??
