This is what I have come up with

I shall be getting my case from elsewhere and it will be running windows home server,

I already have 5TB of hard drives so don't need them either.

Any changes I should make?

Someone suggested in a similar thread to go with an Athlon II X2, then you could upgrade in a year or two to a Phenom II X4 or X6 quite cheaply if you want to use the PC for more demanding things.

No, just a media server, and I.P security cam server......overkill?

The CPU is pretty powerful since most people are using dual core Atoms and ION for media servers and HTPC. That's why I wondered if you would be using it for a local game server or something.

I'd have thought something like the E3400 and a G41 board would be more than enough if you're going the Intel route or a Athlon II x2 and 760 board if going the AMD route. Both should have more than enough grunt to stream media and record a security camera. And will work out cheaper for something that's going to be stuck in a box and for the most part, forgotten about.

Probably me in this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18243420 where we were discussing pros and cons of mini itx over "desktop" components for a server.

How about, Intel Pentium Dual-Core G6950 & Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2 Intel H55.

Slightly cheaper than the E6700 and the P45 mobo.

Good spec. No need for a dedicated card either.

Also to the OP, you wouldn't need a 750w PSU either unless you plan on using a huge rack case with a mass of bays, multiple expansion cards and a huge array of memory. For a media server between 4 and 500w should be more than enough for a CPU, board, 1-4GB of RAM and several drive bays. You could probably get away with 300w for what your intended use is.

So lets say with my original spec, and 8 hard drives 500W would do?

I would think so. I'm speccing my own home server up for a 4TB storage and 4TB redundancy RAID and I'll probably go with one of the Corsair builder series PSU's.

Many Atom ITX builds can use between 90w or 120w Pico PSU's to power the main components and a couple of hard drives and optical disc drive.
