My home setup is currently made up of the below:

Samsung UE50NU7440 TV
Denon AVR-2300X Amp
Canton Movie 75 5.1 speakers
Sky Q
PS5
nVidia Shield 4k
Logitech Harmony Ultimate

Currently I have everything running through the amp and controlled by the harmony remote but with Logitech discontinuing their remotes I wondered if I could do away with this to use the TV's universal remote and maybe lose the Shield? How many devices can TV remotes control?

I use the Shield to stream films from my NAS via Kodi although I've just got Plex working on my PS5 as an alternative. I did try running the Plex server through my NAS (DNS-320L) but it was too slow (maybe need an upgrade to my NAS enclosure??)

Apps like Disney+, Netflix and YouTube I do though Sky Q although could do through the TV I suppose as well

What are peoples opinions? Trying to keep it as efficiently set up as I can so easy for the less tech loving family but good to use.

Everything is working well just now right? If you're wanting to keep it efficient and working for the less tech savvy family then just continue as is. What's the worry about the remote being discontinued?

Just thinking about utilising the so called smart remotes that come with the TV or Sky box but happy to continue with the Harmony (although several years old and wary of how long they will last) as it does the job and looks good - was just having a think about the set up and if its ok.

With regards to Plex, what makes a good NAS for it so I can run the media server on there and have it on all the time instead of via a PC

Yeah understand on that, easy to get carried away with a purchase. I think for ease, Plex on a NAS would be so much easier than having to power on a PC every time we want to watch something or leaving it on all the time in addition to the NAS so will take a look.

I'll have a look at those two. The 320L I have will install Plex but its no longer support with up to date versions and it really struggles to even build the library let alone stream anything

Both my drivers are about 12-18 months old. Will they just plug and play in a new NAS or would they need reformatting?
