Hi gents/ladies, I'm looking forward to getting some sort of Home Theater System (may take anything up to a year though). My quandary is that ideally I would want to use my PS3 as the centre of the HTPC system, but can't find anything suitable. Does anyone know any decent yet affordable 5.1/7.1 systems that work well with a PS3 and eventually a PS4, especially ones that would work well with the PS3 remote control. I wouldn't need any blu-ray/DVD player of course.

All ideas and even input into the general living room set-up is welcome guys :D
 
AV receiver and 5.1 speaker package would be the best choice. Depending on what you want to spend, there are some good low budget choices from Yamaha for around £200. Have a look at this Yamaha YHT-199 on Richer Sounds site. I would avoid the all-in-one DVD/BD based systems, as they aren't good value and have very few inputs. They can be super cheap, but eventually you'll wish you paid the extra and got an AV receiver based setup.

Not much chance of getting the Playstation remote to work with it though. Maybe it would if you got a Sony AV receiver and a separate speaker package, although that will likely work out at a little more.
