We just got the new(ish) homehub (black one) and are having trouble connecting to the wireless. Ethernet is fine and connected to two computers but although the wireless network is broadcasting it won't connect on any of our laptops or my mobile. Signal strength is good (60%+) and the homehub phone works (that is wireless isn't it?) but it doesn't connect to the laptops apparently due to a low signal strenght.

I've tried changing the wireless channel a few times but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I did read somewhere on google that the Homehub2 has troubles connecting to multiple devices, is this a possibility? If so then we're stuffed as we have two desktops, two laptops, mobile and hub phone...

There is an option for b/g+N or b/g only. Or something along those lines, with b/g+N being the default. Try changing it to b/g only.

I use multiple devises on me and no problem. The only issue I had was that it came configured for wpa when most of my machines were wep. Once I resolved this everything was fine.

ps. it was a long time ago so I may have my protocols the wrong way around!

Thanks for the replies. I was a bit muddled it seems when writing the OP, it's not quite like I put across. Apparently my sisters laptop is now fine (new Sony Vaio), so is the homehub phone. My laptop does actually connect to it (it's a Dell XPS with Draft-N card) however it only connects to the router apparently (shown by the network centre) and not the internet....

I've had a look on google and can't see anywhere that says there are compatability problems with the homehub/dell wireless card so i'm a bit stumped. I'm going to somehow disconnect the homehub phone and see if it works then as i'm sure it was working before that was connected but other than that i'm stabbing in the dark. :(

Have you tried resetting the hub? They're hideously temperamental beasts that I'd avoid if possible, though you say you're using the phone so you're probably paying for the talk package or something?

Check settings like if there's a static IP setup on your laptop that the router DHCP server doesn't like, that can sometimes cause problems. If there's not a static IP, try setting one to something that will definitely be accepted (have a look on the routers connected devices first) such as 192.168.1.99 etc.

Yeah I did try resetting the hub, nothing. :) The phone has only been used as another handset for the normal line (rings when the normal phone rings) although I think we apparently get free evening and weekend calls (which I assume we get anyway, option 3, either way i'm not paying the bill soo..).

Right I seem to have it sorted. I went in and decided to change it to WEP instead of WPA, stuck in the security key and laptop connected to the internet. I noticed when changing the details on my laptop that it may have been set on WPA2 (the homehub didn't think there was anything connected via wireless even though the laptop said it was) and so decided to change the homehub back to default settings and make sure the laptop was on WPA. It now seems to work again. Remains to be seen if it stays like that but so far so good.

Would the WPA and WPA2 confusion possibly cause the issues I mentioned? Why the laptop chose WPA2 instead I don't know.

Going to have to test my phone again now and see if it works..

Nope, it seems that isn't issue solved... It worked once or twice bit then cut out after about half an hour and now after bringing the laptop out of hibernation again the it won't connect... :(

I'm going to disconnect the hub phone and see if that helps but other than that I have no idea what to do. I'm tempted to stick the old hub back on as what use is wireless if you can't actually use it!
