Hi

I have a TPlink starter kit (2 x homeplugs)

One is plugged into my wall by the router, the other is going to another bedroom.
They are working fine.

However I want to add to the network, I want to add a 3rd home plug in another room.

I have seen a starter kit from another brand for £9.99, if I buy this will one of these connect to the TP link plug which is next to the router?

Or can you not mix and match brands?

Another tp link homeplug will definately work, I added another one before Xmas to my sisters 'network', though one of them packed up last week & 100 mile round trip later confirmed this, so she had to buy a replacement. :)

Some brands do play nicely together, but I think I'd always stick with the same brand just to reduce the chances of any problems. I've had three TP-Link adapters for just over a year and not had any problems with them.

I had some belkin plugs then bought some Technika (Tesco) plugs which where homeplug compliant to add to the network and the two conflicted with each other and would not work together. If i were you id spend a little more and get the same brand.

I ended up buying more of the Technika ones as they were cheap and had faster speeds than my belkin ones and haven't had any issues since.

Wouldn't mix and match as a standard. You don't what issues down the line due to incompatibility.

Recommend a good brand and stick to it, upgrade when needed.

I made the mistake of buying cheap and had a few problems a while back.

Buy cheap, you buy twice!

I use D-link now and have done for years.
