Ive looked at the homplug AV powerline things for awhile now and was looking for your guys help on this.
Heres what I need.
I need one to take ethernet upstairs, and one to take it to the Tv in the lounge.
Also If it doesnt affect the price by more than £10 I would like the one upstairs to also have a wireless booster init because its a bit patchy there.
I also dont want to spend too much, But would like good quality.

Now the internet is currently running around 3-4mpbs on ethernet around 3.2mbs max on wireless and drops out a fair bit upstairs if you hold it in the wrong place. We will also eventually be upgrading to fibre (I wish we already had) and that will most likely just be the standard 40mbs max 80mbs most likely.

If it isnt really a good option for good quality stable connection that retains atleast 80/90% of the speed as if it were straight onto an ethernet cable.
Im not sure what kind of wiring we have or anything, It is a 20/30 year old ex-council house but theres lots of rewiring been done in places so I cant really give you information on that.

Thanks for all your help, Zswizzy.

If you eventually plan on getting 80Mbps fibre then you'll need AV500 adapters to have a realistic chance of getting the full bandwidth. For your current connection speed (and probably 40Mbps fibre) AV200 would be okay. Any prediction about how well either version will work on your wiring would be complete guesswork, you’ll just need to try it.

Having an included wireless access point is almost certainly going to add a lot more than £10, but it is a neat option if you can stand the expense.

Performance between brands is fairly even. TP-Link is a good place to start for reasonably priced kit, but they don’t have a AV500 adapter that includes wireless.

I bought some 500mbps Powerline adapters and they give me 340mbps internal speed, it all depends on your internal wiring as you've noticed. It's hard for anyone to give you advice on them without you physically testing them. They're great, if you get a good speed. Just make sure you buy the correct ones, if you're getting fibre you'll probably want the gigabit ones with gigabit ports.

Ok bumping my old thread here, thanks for the help so far but just wondering if there are any sets where it gives me three adapters not two packs? Or do I need one adapter from the router per adapter elsewhere?? Thanks.
