Homeplug Enigma

I have a rather unusual enigma re my Devolo Dlan 200 Homeplugs.

Whenever i turn my PC on and start downloading, my connection sits at say 2.4mb/s then after anywhere from 30 secs to 5 mins the connection bottoms out to 300kb/s and the middle connection light on the plug starts flashing red for a poor connection.

yet if i unplug it and plug it straight back in... same thing happens again full speed then bang throttled. If i plug a wireless dongle i have into my PC i enjoy the 2.4 mb/s all night with no fluctuations but its a pain to have to keep changing.

The ONLY thing i can think of from all of this is that the home plugs themselves are throttling the connection. This has happened in my old house and my new one and has always been like this.

Any ideas whats going on or ideally how to fix this?

Is there new firmware available for them perhaps?

up to date firmware, was the first thing i did when i got them a year or so ago

It's worth temporarily unplugging every electrical device you can and seeing if the problem goes away. You may have brought a device causing interference with you from the previous address. Low energy lamps and chargers are good candidates, but it could be anything.

Done this already and no luck. If it was interference then surely it would be there all the time and not after a few minutes.

Mine did this, well one of them did. Not matter what I tried it still happened.
I just bit the bullet and went and bought a pair of 500mbps ones, I just presumed it was on its way out as I have had them a couple of years.

i take it you dont have any throttling issues now?

No all fine now(Just faster), What started happening with mine was that windows would report that it had lost the gateway server and when I looked at the homeplug the middle light was flashing red.

If I turned it off and on again it would re sync for a few hours then the same thing would happen.

I never get any report i just watch it then the light goes red and the speed bottoms out

any further ideas folks other than buying new ones and hoping they work?

Have you used the home plug in a different socket? and are you using them on the same ring main? and make sure you are not using through an extension that has surge protection on, as this may cause you some head ache!

Different sockets many a time and same problem and ive even moved house and again the same issue

I can only suggest trying some new ones then mate i know its an expense but i cant think of anything else
