Hi all,

New here, simply to ask for some help with homeplugs. I have searched google a few times in the attempt to find a solution to my problem but have had no luck so far.

I currently have BT supplying internet at home, using their latest wireless router (BT hub 3.0) I purchased 3 TP link homeplugs to extend the wireless connection around the house as it is a large old farmhouse so the router itself doesn't stand a chance. One of the homplugs is the wired one that is connected to the router by lan cable in turn sending the signal to the other 2 plugs that have the ability to broadcast a wireless signal. Now, when this is all working its fine (internet could be a little faster but that is due to our location) however at times the internet seems to cut out, leaving the computer/phone/tablet showing no internet connection, to resolve this I have to reset the router and it kicks in again. As you can imagine this is a pain. I had a replacement router from BT but the problem persists. As I have 2 homeplugs broadcasting a wireless connection, are they creating a conflict? When I go to reset the router it still shows a blue light suggesting there is an internet connection.

Any help is much appreciated and sorry if I have waffled on a bit!

Thanks in advance, TC

Hmm not sure about that..

It has just happened this evening whilst in the middle of browsing. So I ventured downstairs to the room where the router is based and blue lights all as they should be, however upon trying to connect to the router it wouldn't have any of it. I reset my wifi adapter a few times but still no luck. So turned router off and on again to resolve for now.

Are we thinking the router needs to be replaced again??

Apologies for my late reply!

That is correct, 3 access points.

I will look at the config as soon as I get a chance and try connecting by network cable. From memory I have noticed the sky anytime+ not work when the internet goes off. (the sky hd box is wired into the router to allow internet access for anytime+) so that would suggest even a wired connection doesn't work when the internet goes. but I will try with a laptop.

Thank you for your help, will get back soon!

Current settings on the three access points are as follows;

1) (HH3)
SSID: Games Room
Channel: channel 1
Security: WPA & WPA2

2)
SSID: Homeplug 1
Channel: Auto (current channel 1)
Security: WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK

3)
SSID: Homeplug 2
Channel: Auto (current channel 1)
Security: WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK

I haven't had a chance to try connecting the HH3 by cable yet but hopefully the above will help and if you need anything else let me know.

Thank you again for your help.

Made the changes as suggested on Wednesday. This morning it cut out and I had a very short space of time to rush a laptop and cable to the router. Once connected the laptop showed no signs of connecting to the router. Was still showing wireless access available but unable to connect to the internet. I didn't have the time to fiddle with it and therefore reset the router.

I am told the past two weeks had been very good with possibly a couple of resets (previously was cutting out much more often) Obv changes to channel selection and SSID only made on wednesday so may need more time?

Thoughts..

Thanks, TC
