Sorry if this is a repost but i haven't seen a thread on it.

i am thinking of getting the home plugs for my computer as I am moving the computer to a different room. my question is because the plugs are far away ( my house is long) will they still work as its possible that they are on a different ring ( if you get what I mean ).

thanks in advance

I would have thought it would be fine as i imagine the signal is passed through either the live or neutral. If it is the live it would go back to your D.B through the MCB on to the bus bar back through the corresponding MCB and on to the different final ring main. If it uses the neutral it would work the same way but through the neutral bar in the D.B.
Not sure of what the max range for signal is though as i guess the further it goes it would pick up more noise.

can't rate these things highly enough. I set my one up yesterday as i was previously on wireless. Had a bit of trouble in setting it up, but that was my fault, as i didn't update teh firmware on the devices properly. Done a speed test before and after the setup, and my download speed had doubled after setting them up. My wireless has always been crap anyway, but its nice to now know that i shouldn't have any connection issues, and i'm finally maxing out my usenet downloads at last

wireless is so last century....well it feels like it anyway. Not sure about the distance thing, you can only try i guess.

I went to homeplugs after a lot of pain with wireless in my house......amasing things!
