Hello,

I brought 2 home plugs last week that are rated 200mbps, cost me £35 for 2.

First time using homeplugs. I am using them to connect my ps3 to my 10/100 router.

The led on the home plug for transfer rates reads Amber, whichs means transfer rates between 30 to 80.

HD video play via playstation media server is stuttering on 1080p play back.

Sometimes the homeplugs led reads green which means transfer rates of 80 to 100, highest speed. HD playback in this mode is great.

How can I get the home plug to stay on green all the time ? Is there any tips for setting them up ?

It's in a new build house so new wiring, well 3 years old.

Any tips or advice would be great :)

Thanks

I got some software that showed transfer rate not sure if you got any, if not you can use Iperf to test throughput and try in different rooms to see what speeds you get.

Because they run from the internal wiring there is noise and interference not to mention anything else that is utilizing the internet at the time. I was not impressed myself but others will not doubt have different results seeing as there are too many variables to be expected.

I would run a wire every time if possible, run outside the house or whatever is required.

Thanks for the reply.

Just found the program online for monitoring the home plugs.

Was coming up with 20%to40% signal strength, hence the amber light :(

Moved to another socket and now getting 60%to80% back on the green light :D

Happy days, 1080p video smooth as silk

I'm using the TP-Link 200Mbps Powerline Adapter Twin Pack @ £35 if anyone interested :)

i use home plug to stream between my router and main pc i have my xbox wired to my router and it has a great conection through my router to main pc.
sometimes as you may have found out if one device is on a different wiring lope in the house the signal is poor as it has to travel through the mains fuse box to get to the other device on another lope.
but you apear to have over come this.
