I've set up a Homeplug network and I'm wondering if I can extend the end Homeplug access point with a repurpessed old wireless modem? Essentially just to get another wireless signal at the other end.

The network would look like this.

Modem/wireless router - > homeplug
<-Homeplug <-wireless router <- several devices via ethernet and wireless.

Don't think i've got this right actually. I keep loosing internet connection when connecting via the wireless router/modem (o2 iv box).

I was playing around setting a new ip for the router but after doing that I can't connect to it anymore. I was trying to get it onto the same range as what is used by the main modem (192.168.0.x) as the o2 box uses 192.168.1.x by default. A combination of theses meant that I wasn't able to connect to my nas box which was connected to the o2 router... I might just get a switch. It'll be a lot easier to set up.

The 2nd wireless router needs to be outside the ip adress range used by the first one. So if your router issues ip addresses from 192.168.0.20-192.168.0.200 then your second router needs to be in the range 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.19

Could I just leave the second one on 192.168.1 then?

So far I've been unable to connect to other devices on my network, I suspect because I originally had them setup to have static It's from the 2nd router when that used to be my only modem.

Could I be having trouble with devices trying to share the same ip on the first router when connected to the second?

Fixed.
As you said I just needed to set the 2nd router outside of the range.

I didn't realise I could have more than static IP range set, which I needed to set things up initially. Also had to redo all my NAS ip's etc.

No need for the gigabit switch I ordered now........

Had some issues today where two laptops connected to the main modem/router lost connection and couldn't get back on till I disconnected the 2nd router and reset the first. Anyone have any ideas? The laptops seemed to adopt an external address...
